Who We Are

 Bray Industries was founded in 2008 as the culmination of Charlie and Janet Bray's many years of experience in technology fields. Both have been in the technology industry for over a decade, watching computers become commonplace and the internet come into its own as a staple in the American home. Passionate about technology and communication, the Brays have been actively building websites and servicing personal and business computers for over fifteen years.

Charlie began tinkering with computers in the late eighties and was one of the first to set up a BBS (bulletin board system), the Cadillac Ranch BBS in his home. At the time, he was employed as an information technology manager for a 5-office company. Over the years, he has never left the technology field, mostly preferring to work for "mom-and-pop" computer repair shops until arriving at Lamar University in 2003. There, he completely transformed the Finance Division's most difficult problems into stable, reliable solutions that had so few maintenance needs that he had to find other things to do! He realized that properly configuring and maintaining computers translated into happy clients whose computers ran so well that they welcomed the sight of him in the door.

In 1995, Janet sold her first website to a tiny real estate agency in a tiny town. Within a month, she joined a small internet shop where she began to understand the real commercial applications for web design. Over the next three years, she developed over a hundred websites for local and national companies as well as her own personal endeavors. In 1998, Janet decided to supplement her income with a steady paycheck and became Lamar University's very first webmaster. Over her six years at Lamar, Janet produced three new designs, empowered the Lamar users by adding content-managed features, and continued to improve on the new bar she had set for herself. Eventually, she ended up at a sister school, the Lamar Institute of Technology, where she changed the direction of the website and image of the Institute, but moved before being able to see it reach fruition.

Janet's real area of expertise is the marketing and graphic side of Bray Industries. Her award-winning website skills are complemented with an intuitive sense that allows her to effectively translate client's needs and wishes into an attractive, clean design that precisely communicates with the intended audience. Her portfolio also includes logo design, brochure design and other printed collateral, high-end photographic retouching, digital photo album design, digital painting, scratchboard, graphite, watercolor and acrylic paintings.
